Reviews
Great series –Linda
My students love the Little Elf series - they especially love A Job for Little Elf. The books are appropriately leveled which makes them a great resource for Reading Recovery students. (Posted on 12/29/2011)
Cookies for Santa –Robin
I use the Little Elf books with my Reading Recovery students. They love the part where Santa says, "HO! HO! HO!" and rubs his belly and says, "Yum, yum, yum!" The books are easy to read and fun for my struggling readers. Great leveled books for all readers! (Posted on 12/20/2011)
Little Elf Motivates –Angelica
My students are motivated to read the Little Elf books to practice their skills. And they love "Little Elf" and can identify with him. My Reading Recovery students love the Little Elf BookBuilder offered by Pioneer Valley. Seeing their name in the story with the cute "Little Elf" character really motivated them to read the book over the long holiday break. Thanks for providing such a motivating character, and beautifully illustrated and written book series for my first grade readers. They love Little Elf, and look forward to reading more about this magical elf! I plan to buy more! (Posted on 12/20/2011)
Their faces light up –Tamie
I have loved the BookBuilder Little Elf books. The students' faces light up when they see their own names in the books. They are so excited to share them with other kids and adults. What a great motivation for reading!! (Posted on 12/20/2011)
Great for students and teachers –Michele
My students love this series and connect with the characters. They are so motivated that they are willing to work very hard and read extra over the breaks to get to the next book in the series even though the season of the books has past. I love the vocabulary and word work that can be done with this book. (Posted on 12/9/2011)
Motivating! –Amber
What matters to me most about a guided reading book? That my students LOVE it! Well, the Little Elf series hit the jackpot on this. First of all, students are so motivated to read them that they are great to use as transitions as you move up levels. The reach happens so naturally because they want to read the story so badly. Secondly, it can be tough finding a level D book that students will read and reread. Well, again, the level D Little Elf book is one that kids keep turning the pages of. There's enough words on each page, too, that it really is a tool for building fluency. This is a must have!!! (Posted on 12/9/2011)
We Love Little Elf –Christy
My students love the Little Elf book series. With the vibrant illustrations and the humorous stories Little Elf will be a character your students will read about all year long! (Posted on 12/6/2011)
Great Holiday Book –Becky H.
The Little Elf books are great for getting students interested in reading especially during the holidays. They are excited about the upcoming season and this just hooks them even more! (Posted on 12/6/2011)
Little Elf BookBuilder and the Little Elf series are awesome! –Mary P.
I love the Little Elf series. My students love reading the books. They are definitely worth buying for struggling readers. Easy to decode and master inference as they relate to their own lives in each story. I love the fact that they are leveled. I use them for my tutoring after school and students' parents love the books as well. They have sight words that they need to know as well as words to decode for better vocabulary. This series is a win-win in my book. Thanks Pioneer Valley for producing great children's books. Mary P Elementary Tutoring (Posted on 12/5/2011)
A Job for LIttle Elf –Gaynell J.
This is a great book. My Reading Recovery student enjoyed this book and did an awesome job reading it. The story line is fabulous and is an easy read. It is definitely a good resource to analyze the reading processing of your students. It is a story that students can relate to where the 'little' character wins the victory in the end. great seasonal book –sherry s.
The Little Elf series is a great series for students this time of year. The illustrations are also wonderful. Great job, as usual, with a new series. Sherry S., Muhlenberg County Schools. (Posted on 12/5/2011)
